Need system restore Disk
Customer #: 23334395
Customer Name: Emap Metro USA, LLC
Service Tag: 8ZSD921
Express Service Code: 19578222361
Technical Support Case#: 69880075
The original OEM system/restore/install disk that came with this laptop cannot be located. The system will no longer boot and a new system restore disk is needed. Please let me know how to obtain this disk. I have spent over 3 hours on the phone with sales/customer care/technical support etc.
They all agree that this is what is needed, but are somehow unable to give me the correct part number, price so that it can be obtained.
Please help with this matter.

There is no system restore CD/Disk. What is sent with every Dell PC, depending on how old it is, Is a copy of the MS Windows operating system you order with the unit. If it's Windows 2000 or XP Pro just go by a upgrade version. You will need a CD of a qualifying previous version to use the upgrade CD to install the OS. Or just buy a full version.
The reason Dell can't tell you what the price is, is because they normally don't send out a second copy of the OS CD. It's the buyer responsibility to keep the CD disk of the OS for as long as they own the unit.

You had better luck than we did, bud. After talking to a man who seemingly acted like he knew what he was talking about, he told me I could call sales and get a replacement cd for 5 dollars. Seemed like a good deal, considering that everyone knows it ONLY WORKS ON DELLS and it is for my son, I have a completely different os and don't care to have XP, no offense to XP lovers, but my job as a tech dictated that we migrate 1500 machines from win95 to xp in 2 weeks and I am quite frankly sick to death of xp. We moved my son back home and cannot locate the cd. I called sales last night. They of course were closed. I called today 7 times, was put on hold for a minimum of 20 minutes each time and finally told by some ID-10-T that I was LIED TO. That no such service existed. It would cost me 200 or more to get a full blown copy of XP. How and who did you talk to??
