Network driver needed

Wednesday eve   Although Dell support is mostly superior to all the others, I am continually distriessed when I need drivers for a laptop.   I cannot understand why the listed downloads for a specific computer purchased from dell, with a specific service tag number are NOT specific to the computer.   I am working on a laptop. I installed a new hard  drive. I installed XP. The network 'card' is not identified by XP.   So, I log on to dell.com, enter the service tag, browse to the downloads list and find 17 network drivers listed, mostly wireless drivers.   I browse to the original configuration page and I find a list of dell's internal part numbers that provide me no clue as to which network driver to download.   And the current configuration wizard is not downloadable;  Which would describe the computer in a way that is NOT similar to the original configuration list.   Once I get the driver I will have to put it on a CD and then move the CD to the laptop to install it.   The list of downloads should be specfic to the computer as it was shipped. At least the original configuration description should be directly related/linked to the drivers.   So, how do I learn what driver I need for the network card (not wireless)?   J

What notebook and operating system do you have?    It is tough to suggest the network driver without knowing what operating system and notebook that you have.
