Do you have the software installed for your digital camera?

Are you saying you make movies with this, then want to edit them in movie maker?

Might easier just to see if you can pull the stuff off the camera using explorer then opening them with movie maker.

Most digital video cams require you to install the driver that came with the cam.

No driver came with cam. Is that a problem?

No software came with camera.
All I have on My Computer is:
Our Documents.
C:drive Local disk
D: Drive cd/dvd

I just want to do VERY simple things with Film on camera like transfer to DVD and maybe edit if it looks really bad!!

Have you installed this driver? Try unplugging the camera then installing the driver, then plugging the camera in. Try a different port. Are you sure it uses USB? Do you need a DV (firewire) port instead?

Do you have the manual that came with the camera? If not, see if you can download it and follow the directions for installing the camera.

Thanks for your message. Yes I am using Firewire-I've tried 3 different ones!!

The manual is not brilliant.

I dont seem to have a firewire folder/section in My Computer but everthing seems ok on Device Manager. I dont suppose you have any ideas do you?

Can you take the camera to another computer and see if it will install on it? That will help eliminate your computer as the culprit.
