Not recognizing floppy/CD: Was working

I have a Latitude CSx with an external floppy and CD which I used to be able to swap with Baymanager.  Now neither seem to be recognized.  Are there any recommendations on how I could troubleshoot this to get them working again?    Thanks, Kev

Austintx,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Try to boot to a dos boot disk to test the floppy drive.
Try to boot to a bootable cd like a Dell Resource CD or a Windows bootable cd to test the cdrom drive.
Note: The boot order in the system bios must be changed and that device made the first boot device.
If you can boot to either device, then you know the media bay port and that device is working.
At that point you may wish to reload the bay manager software or troubleshoot Windows.
You can try another media cable to see if the cable is bad.
You can try your media cable, CDROM or floppy drive on another Latitude CSx system to verify that they work.

The external media sleeve allows Latitude C-series removable storage devices to be used with the Latitude CS. The sleeve accepts the floppy drive, LS-120, 2nd hard drive, CD-ROM or DVD-ROM, and attaches to the system via a special media bay cable. The connector on the system is located on the right-hand side of the system, directly in front of the PC Card slots. The floppy drive can also be used via the optional parallel port cable, but none of the other devices will work unless they are used in the external media sleeve or in C/Dock expansion stations.

NOTE: Unlike the media bay in the C/Dock and C/Dock II expansion stations, the external media sleeve supports booting to the 2nd hard drive, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, and LS-120. You can also boot to the floppy drive regardless of its location.

And now.....the rest of the story:  A new cable (10NRN) fixed it.  I must have flexed it one too many times.  I was not successful in finding a replacement from Dell.  Google searches only found prices of $75 (for a cable!).  Thank goodness for ebay, where $36 (including shipping) got me the cable.  (Still kind of steep to support a $250 computer).   Kev
