Notebook running hot
My notebook continually runs hot lately, the fan going non stop, with my
it just shutting down after not too long a period of time after getting
'draggy' so to speak and then freezing; locking up. My uneducated guess is
that I need a new battery pack? Any thoughts?.......

Hi,
Some models ran the fan all the time, and varied the speed. You may have a blocked heat-sink[ clogged with dust ] and another thing to look at is CPU activity. It may be running 100 % all the time. I dont think the battery will have anything to do with it.

My notebook is an Inspiron 1150. Actually I'm relieved that the two messages I received in reply to my question refer to it being dusty and I'm interested in someone advising how to clean it also!
Thank you for your response!

Hi,
Your model has a reputation for a few problems, and this is one of them. Make sure you also check the CPU activity.
