Yes there are settings in the BIOS that control the Num keypad. In your case roght now IF you hold down the Fn key the Num keypad should give you numbers and such. In the BIOS there is a setting to lock the Num keypad so when you hit the Num Lock key you will always get the keypad and to type letters you have to either turn off the Num Lock or hold down the Fn key.
