Only via Microphone

I am able to hear the audio only via microphone or external speakers connected to my laptop
(XPS 1330)

When i bought the laptop, that time i was able to hear the audio via laptop inbuilt speakers but not via microphone/external speakers

Later, i configured microphone....
boom :smileysurprised:....... now i can hear only via microphone or need to attach the external speakers

The audio quality is gud....but i need to carry external accessories wherever i wanna use the audio :smileysad:

Your software switch that is supposed to route the audio signal from your headphone jack to your speakers is not working. Try re-installing the Sigmatel audio driver; this might re-set the software. If that doesn't work then you could have a fault in the headphone jack that would need to be fixed by Dell.

Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager (in XP; I'm not sure of the path in Vista). Find the audio driver under Sound Controllers, right click on it, and then click Uninstall. Restart the computer. Windows should automatically detect your device and display a wizard that helps you reinstall the driver for it.

Or you can download the driver from the downloads page for your model and operating system, using the 'Drivers and Downloads' link on the left of this page.
