P9600 processor in Precision M4400

I would like the P9600 processor (or better yet, the P9700) installed in the Precision M4400 mobile workstation. The lower power consumption and lower heat generation are crucial in my purchase decision. Regarding the question being posed earlier, Dell's mano_g said this in response: Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 DELL mano_g: 'It is all about performance within the Dell Precision line of business.  The P9500 is a 25W CPU that has the same clock speed as a 35W CPU that performs better.  The team made the decision to take the higher performing part.' I would like to point out that this is wrong. The claim that the T model processors with a higher Thermal Design Power(TDP) of 35 watt perform better is erroneous. It may be observed from benchmarks that the T model processors may perform better than their P (TDP 25 watt) counterparts (T9550 vs. P9600), however, there are so many factors that affect the benchmarks that must have not been noticed by your 'team'. The fact that there are a significantly larger number of T model benchmarks, as they are older and slightly less expensive, inflate the benchmarks and the idea that they perform better. Intel, the manufacturer of the processors, claims that their performance powers are equal. They designed the P model processors specifically to use less energy and produce less heat. Intel's interest in eco-friendly solutions has played a role in discounting the prices of the processors to vendors to encourage their use over their older counterparts. As this design process is more complicated, Intel has not yet developed P series processors with as much processing power as the higher T models. e.g. T9900 (3.06GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1066Mhz FSB, $530). However, the recently released P9700 (2.80GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB, $348) matches the older T9600 (2.8GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB, $316). Now, the Latitude E6500, which has a nearly identical chassis as the Precision M4400, and shares inherent similarities in the motherboard, offers Intel's P9600 processor as an upgrade. It should be noted, that this is a Socket P processor as are the other processors for the M4400. The chipset in the M4400 supports the use of the P9600 processor. It is compatible with the computer, and Dell has it in their possession. Speaking from a capitalist standpoint of a consumer economy, the consumer is always right. This is the first rule of business and sales. Therefore, to not satisfy the consumer, especially when you are fully capable, is a fallacy. Honestly, it doesn't matter whether your team 'thinks' the processor is a good choice for the computer, it comes down to whether the consumers think it is or not, as they are purchasing the computer. There is zero prospect of financial loss by adding it as an option, but you stand to profit by allowing customers to take advantage of the option by making it available. Dell has always prided itself in its high level of customization to fit the consumer's needs, however, you are failing to address the needs of the consumer in this scenario through a lack of customization. It should be noted that Intel is selling the higher performing P9700 processors for the same price as the P9600 processors. As a consumer, I certainly wouldn't mind paying even a slight bit more for the higher performing processor, regardless of the cost to you. You should therefore consider purchasing them from Intel and offering them to your customers. As for allowing customers to purchase their Precision M4400 Mobile Workstations with compatible and available processors, I urge you to do more than consider. I urge you to make it happen. I'm a consumer, and I am enamored with the Precision M4400 mobile workstation that you offer. However, my needs must be met before I am willing to purchase the computer. I would like to make this purchase with Dell. However, if you cannot provide me what I require, then I will be forced to go elsewhere to another party who can. Remember the second rule of business: If we don't take care of our customers, someone else will.

I saw your post because i own M4400 and also i love it.... i wonder to ask you then if theres some faster processor than T9600 (2.8GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) is the one i buyed and i did BIOS upgrade to A15 and there is new support for newer ones... but description dont say anything else about new intel models? Lol, also im looking for upgrade RAM 4 to 8Gb... thanks Ivan
