PCI to Cardbus bridge - incorrect parameter
I am troubleshooting an intermittent problem with using PCMCIA cards in my D600, where the communications and sometimes the computer freezes. Updating the drivers seemed like a good step and I visited the Dell support site, which lists an extensive set of files for updating. I focused on the BIOS and interface, downloading and installing the A14 BIOS (from A8), and the O2Micro Cardbus update R85239. Once this was installed - cards inserted in the slot obtained no response. Looking at Device Manager, I found a problem flag for 'PCI to CardBus bridge', under PCMCIA Adapters. The drivers are not installed, but when I go to install the driver, I get a message not installed due to an "incorrect parameter".
Searching for this error message did not yield results, except for a Dell reference last summer to loading drivers for the TI chipset in order versions of Windows.
Where should I go for further assistance?
Thanks, Doug
