Playing a Game and Computer screen Goes Black and shuts Game off! HELP!

I bought a XPS M140 about a year ago and every time I've tried to play a game on it something goes wrong.  I will be playing my game then all of a sudden the screen goes black and the game shuts off.  The game never gets saved, so you have to do it all over.  Recently I bought Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and at the same moment in the game it shuts off.  Afterwards a box pops up saying there was an issue with the game and I need to send an error report.  But, I know it's not the game because it does it with every game I play new, old, or used games-it always does it!  Now I went into my dell help and went through all the steps..changing my video accelerator, graphics settings, video settings, display settings....but it still does it.  I've downloaded the new drives and programs for my computer-yet, I am still having a problem...so, I thought you could help!!!!

PLEASE, if you have any Idea what so ever write back!   THANKS!

Hi,

Looks pretty serious and i Would have immediately demanded dell to change it.
Or you have a special virus. Are you sure to be clean on that point ?

Does the problem happen when you change your video resolution (or when it is changed by game) ?
What if you do it yourself (thanks to your control panel)?

I actually called Dell to see if they could walk me through it, but they wanted to charge me over 200 dollars to just walk me through the steps of fixing my computer.  Now I don't know about you, but I do not have 200 dollars to just spend on things like that....It was so ridiculous!!! I am soo upset.  Because it seems to me that if it is the computer messing up and not something I did, that they would be more than willing to fix the problem.  Especially if the computer cost over 2000 dollars!  COME ON DELL!!!! THROW ME A BONE....heh.

But I did walk through the dell support on my computer and it couldn't help me...I did the video resolution and lowered the graphics, downloaded new updated drives, I'm clueless!

Any more ideas?

If dell technicians can t do anything for you, sorrybut your problem seems so weird that doesn t interest many people. Just erase all hd and put back clean drivers, if not fixed, means that video card is faulty ...

Bye

Your video card does not meet the minimum requirements for Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and not many other games. You may not ever be able to get them to work correctly. You can try updating your drivers and some of the suggestions in SR45's post. Good Luck
