Hi Aisaka,

Please share the exact system model of your computer. Also, share the part no for the old and the new adapter. AC Adapter's may vary depending on the graphics card installed on your system.

Please reply if you have any questions.

Hi Aisaka,

Thank you for the response. I would suggest you to connect the old AC Adapter and update the BIOS.

Note: Before updating BIOS please ensure that:
*Battery is 10%> or >10% charged
*Battery charger should be connected
*No external devices (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) should be connected.
*All other programs should be closed and documents saved

  • Click on the link http://dell.to/W02OJ2
  • Click on ‘Download File’
  • Check on the radio box ‘Single-file download’
  • Click ‘Continue’
  • Click ‘Save’
  • Choose the location as desktop, save the file on the desktop
  • Right click and choose ‘Run as Administrator’
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the program
  • Restart the computer

Once you have updated the BIOS, try to connect the new AC Adapter and check.

Please reply if you have any questions.

i installed the R293649.exe from the link you gave me and followed the steps above . after that i tried to restart it again and checked the bios setup and i found out that the BIOS is still A08. what should i do now?  i tried to open the folder containing the one i installed and tried to run checksum and an error pops up that says " the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows i am running....... i have windows 7 home premium well maybe this isn't relevant maybe this info can help make my prob solved.

i also tried installing the .iso format and when i run the f.bat file i got a error message that says it is not compatible with x64 bit

Hi Aisaka,

Thank you for the response. Let's try the steps below:

  • Ensure that the working AC Adapter is plugged into the system
  • Save the A09 BIOS (.iso file) from the link http://dell.to/W02OJ2 to a bootable USB flash drive (you can use the information mentioned in this article http://bit.ly/BG9Ts )
  • Once you've created the bootable USB drive, power on the system, press 'F12' to change boot sequence to USB key
  • At the DOS prompt where the BIOS directory is, type FA and press 'Enter'
  • The BIOS now should be updated to version A09.

Hope this helps.

Hi Aisaka,

Since the BIOS is updated and the issue persists, it appears that the AC Adapter is faulty and may require a replacement.
