whilst this query is not in any way related to a bios problem, download the google toolbar which has an inbuilt popup stopper!
more importantly, it's free!
Bacillus, I have been plaqued by these popups recently, especially "VIPFARE..". So I installed noads and it works and it keeps a list of the popups being blocked. I have not used the google tool bar, just wondering if it is better than noads.
the mozilla browser (on which netscape is based) has an inbuilt pop-up blocker. I haven't seen an unwanted popup for 12mnths. Get it from
www.mozilla.org
Opera browser has nice built in popup control with easy on/off to allow certain pictures. Free to download too, except certain java scripts will not work with Opera. I like it though, been using it for 3 months.
you can do this through the Control Panel. Navigate to Administrative Tools | Services. Double-click on Messenger and click on Stop. Then set the Startup Type to Manual or Disable. Click on OK and the pop-up spam will be blocked.
I am a bit embarrassed because disabling messenger under xp works fine . I have been trying this a few times on different computer . I do not understand why it doesn't work under windows 2000 !
