yes- the larger supply allows it to run at full speed.

You mean that it won't run full speed with the 65watt adapter or that it won't charge a battery and run full speed at the same time?

I think that perhaps he meant that the 90 watt adapter will charge the battery at a higher speed (quicker) than the 65 watt.  The adapter has absolutely nothing to do with the speed at which the computer runs.

That's what I thought.  I didn't think that dell would sell an adaptor that wouldn't allow the computer to run at its stated speed. Although I wouldn't be suprised if they did....

Do they have a 90W adapter for the 8500?  I could use a quicker charging battery myself.

Nope, nothing sinister going on with Dell's adapter choices.  Just faster battery charging albeit for a bit more $$.
