Power Supply Issues

Question

Hi, my laptop runs while it's connected to an AC-power supply, but once I take away the power supply, the laptop cannot run on its own.

I have noticed that the battery light is flashing orange (it used to show a steady green light before this problem started).

Model: Dell Inspiron 6400
Operating System: Windows XP SP2

I would think that the power supply works fine, but the battery might have problems with it. If you need any more info, please ask.

If the battery is flashing only orange (i.e., not alternating orange and green) it's dead. Replace the battery with a new one.

while battery is in , does the bios show charging with 65w adapter? If not this could very well be a system board issue.
