Power/Battery Problem with my Inspiron 7000
A few weeks ago I noticed a problem with my Inspiron, I would plug the AC Adapter into the wall and then into the power port on my Inspiron. Here's where the problem comes in: It will not charge the battery. If I push really hard it will start charging, but when I stop, it doesn't charge anymore. I have stoped pushing to make it charge, because I fear I may be breaking the prong inside. The AC cord has been ruptured, and that might be the problem, but i still thing that maybe, two things are broken, the cord, and the battery, can somone please contact me to help me fix my problem, If you have AIM my Screen Name is : Rentor2 If you have ICQ my UIN is 9831325. If you would rather E-mail me, my address is Rentor@afo.net. Thank you and have a nice day.

I would recommend trying the battery in the other slot (you can shift the face plate by slapping it over to the other side). See if the problem persists. If it does, then the battery probably needs replacing; if it doesn't then the connector in the battery bay needs servicing.
To arrange service, contact our Mobile Computing Hotline at 800-822-8965 for Corporate/Government Accounts or at 800-247-9252 for Direct accounts. You will be connected to a Portables Technical Specialist who will help you resolve the issue. You can also email our support staff at Mobile_Support@Dell.com.

If the system cannot charge or boot of off the battery in either slot, then I would recommend calling in for service as described above.

My Inspiron 7000 recently had the same problem as you are describing where the battery is not charging on its own. The same thing happens if I push in the adaptor, then it starts charging the battery. My computer has never been dropped and the adaptor use to work (up until now). It has never done this before, but I recently just updated the systems and the computer has been in a closet for 3 months. Do you have any other suggestions? Where can I find a new adaptor to buy and replace mine if that is the problem. Thanks for any help. You can e-mail me at <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy> or respond to this message. I appreciate any help.
