Precision M70 Video Adapter Problem Error Code 5300:0119
I am having a doozy of a problem with my Precision M70 Mobile Workstation (although I call it a laptop), and a problem that started a couple of days ago when my screen (LCD) went black when closing down Firefox, and then again with the Windows Explorer.
Trying to reboot the screen did not appear at all.
I went ahead and ran the diagnostics (Fn-Power) and received Errors on all modes of Video memory (Eh 640x200x16; Eh 640x350x2...etc) all with either Address of A0838h or A20E0h Where it read "Detected failure when reading & writing video memory...expected to read 0h but read 10h instead."
My question is if anyone is familiar with these error codes (and if there is a list of codes with corresponding corrective action anywhere to download) and if I am looking for a chip set replacement, video adapter replacement, or just a reset of some sort...?
I look forward to any assistance...
Reference:
Windows XP SP2 All Updates and Patches
Intel centrino
1G RAM
Intel Graphics Assembly 256MB
Removed all outer shell and ensured all connectors in place and seated correctly.
Thanks
Psycho

The memory on the video adapter has failed; the video adapter needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the reply -- any idea as to where I can find a display adapter for sale? Costs for one of these?
I've done a limited search for anything resembling the part number, both from Dell and the numbers on the unit itself...but no luck finding anything. The Dell P/N (even the one from my Service Tag Config online) doesn't correlate to anything known on the Dell Website...
Thanks

This is the ATI card:

The higher end nVidia cards for the system run more on the order of $400-500.

I've had the same problem. Is it very difficult to replace the display adaptor?
