"Presentation Mode is disabled"
I'm am trying to plug my Latitude E5500 into the TV using the VGA port. I'm able to use the S-video port with no problems but was hoping that the VGA port would give me a better picture. When I plug in the VGA cable and press Fn+F8 I get a message that says "Presentation Mode is disabled". I've tried changing the screen resolution but with no luck. Any ideas?
Dell Latitude E5500 running Windows XP Pro. When I look at the info for my video card I see this... "Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family".

Just want to add that we also had to go to Control Point, Display Manager and Display Settings and "disable alarms and time for Presentation".

We had a similar issue. It would project on the TV but not simultaneously with the laptop and TV. Change the Control Point settings to Dell Presentation and then go to the properities of your video card and change from Laptop + Analog to Analog + Laptop. I know that sounds silly, but it worked. The exception we had compared to your incident is that we have NVidia video in our E6500 laptops.

the cable between the laptop and the monitor/TV is probably not plugged in (completely)
push the plugs in as far as they go

Right click on desktop - Display properties - Settings. Select the 2nd monitor. Select checkbox "Extend my windows desktop on to this monitor". Click OK. This seems to activate the ability to select a monitor using Fn F8. You can now go back to Display properties and uncheck "Extend windows..." checkbox. Depending on the resolution of the 2nd monitor (we are using a large tv screen) you may need to change the resolution of your laptop desktop (screen).
