Primary Display Question

 I would like to know if it is possible to setup an external monitor to automatically be the primary display when it is attached.  I have no problem setting up the dual monitor display and selecting the primary display through the Catalist drivers, but I would prefer not to do it that way.  Idealy I would like to plug the monitor in, turn the laptop on, and then only the external monitor would display.
