Problem after system restore - windows error recovery
Hi all,
I have a inspiron 9400 and last night I needed to do a system restore which I have done twice before (once on this and once on another insprion Laptop). Both times it went fine.
However last night went wrong!!!
I now get a screen that tells me
Windows failed to star and that a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem.
1. insert your windows installations disc and restart your computer
2. Choose your language settings and then click next
3. Click repair your computer.
other options
If power was interrupted during startup choose start windows normally
Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with Command prompt
Last known good Configuration
Start windows normally
I have tried all the "other" options but i end up back at the same screen.
With regards to the installation disc which is this as I have two. My laptop was on the vista upgrade programme so I have an XP one and a Vista type disc?? Also by doing this will it wipe all my bits on the laptop?
Can anyone help or advise?
Many thanks for any help :-)

Did you did the system restore from the partition or did you restore to a restore point?
From the message it sound like you restored back to a restore point, which does not always work.
I would try to restore from the restore partition because it is easier, faster and reliable.
You will loose all data if you do so.
