"Problem Undocking From Docking Station"

I'm getting an error when trying to undock my Latitude CPx from a C/Port II. The message window says:

"Problem Undocking From Docking Station"

"You cannot eject your computer because one of rht edevices in the docking station, 'ECP Printer Port (LPT1)', cannot be stopped because a program is still accessing it."

I don't have anything running that would be using LPT1, and I've never had this problem before (this is a new docking station).

Any idea on how to fix this? It's really annoying to have to shut down and restart, and was one of the main reasons why I purchased this docking station, as I had much success with it in the past.

The laptop is running BIOS version A11 and Windows 2000 Professional.

Thanks

The issue may not be with the driver or dock itself but with another program which is non-2000 compatible using that driver file.

The easiest way to solve the problem is:

1. Go to the event viewer (found in administration tools) and clear all the log files.
2. Try and put your computer into Suspend mode or Eject PC.
3. When it doesn't go into Suspend mode go back to the event viewer and refresh the screen - you should now find the event error message, which was recorded by the system, which will give you some idea about what program is causing the problem.

Some legacy software, such as older versions of Adobe Type Manager and PGP, have been known to cause this behavior. Updating or removing this software may stop the error from occurring.

I recently had this problem pop-up on my Latitude C800. I resolved teh problem by using the Add/Remove Hardware to remove the LPT Port from my system, then let it auto-detect at next boot. The problem has gone away since doing that...

The uninstall the port through device manager and restart the computer fixed this problem for me.

Inspiron 4150, Dell APR and HP PSC750 printer.
