Problem using external power supply

Question

Couple of weeks ago my Inspiron 8600 started to have problem using the external power supply and the sympton is that it jumps betwen using the external power supply and the internal battery. Problem is that this issue has occured more and more to a point where the system can't run on battery anymore due to that it's empty.

The power supply seems to work perfect and there is no broken cable issues here and as well the battery when fully loaded works perfect.

So my question here is there is an issue with the power input contact on the system board? Anyone else had this issue?

If it is still under warranty, contact Dell.  I have heard there have been issues with the power supply.

No luck there since the system doesn't have any warrant anymore; but then again if Dell would be serious they would take care of all the faulty power supplies since when searching a bit more both within this forum and external I found out that loads of people has the same problem.
