Hello. I'm sorry that you did not receive a timely response -- I was very busy last week and I had to let some things slide, and I guess no one else had an answer to offer.
I can't tell from your picture if it is a hardware or a driver issue. To rule out it being a driver issue, test by installing the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the search box and hit Enter).
2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
3. Select to "Update Driver Software".
4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.
7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).
8. Click "Next".
9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver).
10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.
[To get back to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 1 and 6.]
Now test the headphone jack before you make any changes to the default Sound settings.
> If the audio stops playing through the speakers when the headphones are plugged in, then the jack itself seems to be okay and there is probably an issue with the Realtek driver failing to recognize that there is a plug in the jack. This is sometimes a problem with Realtek.
> If the audio still comes through the speakers while the headphones are plugged in, then there could be a hardware problem with the jack.
If you are sure that the plug is not going all the way into the jack, the jack could be defective. Contact tech support to get it checked out.

In that case it is a hardware defect and is covered under your warranty. You can contact tech support to get it fixed.
Well if you push too hard and force the jack loose from the motherboard, that might be considered an "accident", and accidents are not covered under the warranty if you have the standard warranty.
