Problem with nv4_disp / infinite loop

Similar problems have been discussed in this forum before but my Inspiron 2650 is not operable any more so that I cannot update the drivers (at least not the usual way). After booting the desktop screen is distorted and blinking and then a BSoD appears saying: Problem caused by file: nv4_disp ... the device driver got stuck in an infinite loop ... Does anybody have an idea how to fix this? Tobias (I have a Geforce2, Windows XP, Inspiron 2650)

Boot in Safe Mode (F8 at startup), uninstall, reboot and reinstall the video driver.
