Problem with touchpad

Hi,

I am facing an issue with the touchpad of my new Inspiron 15z. The touchpad was working perfectly fine till last week. Now suddenly, the gesture features of the touchpad are not working properly. I am able to use the pad for basic functions like clicking but cannot use it for gesture features like 2 finger zoom in/out and scrolling. Fyi, I was using an external mouse on this laptop? Could it be aproblem because of that? Request you to kindly respond at the earliest.

Regards,

Hi Jewel Varughese,

May I know the exact model of the system so that I can help you with the better resolution?

Check if the settings are enabled in Touchpad settings.

  • Click the touchpad icon in the system tray.
  • Click touchpad properties, this dialog box enables you to configure Sensitivity settings, Button settings, scrolling and Zoom Settings etc.
  • Select "Gestures” and check if settings are enabled.
  • Now select “Edge Scroll & Zoom” check if it is enabled. Now “Save” the settings and check if the features work.

If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers:

Uninstall:

  • Click on the Start button and then choose Control Panel.
  • Click on the System and Security link.
  • In the System and Security window, click on the Device Manager link located under the System heading. Under “Mice and Pointing devices”, right click the touchpad device and click “Uninstall”.
  • Check the box “Delete driver software for this device”, click ok and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall.
  • Restart the computer.

Install:

***NOTE: Above steps are for Inspiron 5523/15z.

Hi Jewel Varughese,

Uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers.

Click on the link below which has drivers from vendor’s website:

From the above link, click Windows 8/7/XP/Vista 64/32-bit Edition v16.3.15.1 and download and install the drivers for the touchpad.

Let me know how it goes.
