Problems Installing Windows Media Center on E1505
I'm attempting to do a clean install using the Operating System ("Already Installed On Your Computer") disk which came with my laptop.
The problem I'm having is that in the beginning of installation it gives the option of Windows Media Center or Windows XP Professional. When I choose the Media Center option, nothing seems to happen. So I can only install the Windows XP Professional version, which doesn't look right on my screen (looks streteched no matter what display settings I use) and, more importantly, it doesn't seem to recognize that I have a wireless connection...so I can't connect to the internet with that computer (I'm writing on this post on another computer).
How can I install the WIndows Media Center from the Operating System disk. I currently have Windows XP Professsional installed but since it's not apparently compatible with the E1505's wireless ability, it's not something I want to keep installed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Media Center IS XP Pro at its core. What you need to install are all the drivers for your hardware - start with the Dell notebook system software and the Intel chipset driver, and follow with the video, audio, modem, touchpad, wired, wireless, and all other drivers - all are downloadable from support.dell.com.

You're going to need to download, using a system with internet access, at least the following drivers, and place them on a flash drive or a CD/DVD:
The Dell notebook system software
The chipset driver
The driver for the wired or wireless network adapter - whichever you use to connect to the Internet.
Once those are installed you can connect to support.dell.com to download the rest of the needed drivers.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I can't connect to the Internet to dowload those drivers at this point. I have windows xp professional installed from the Operating System disk but it doesn't recognize any connections to the Internet...so I'm still plugging away at figuring that out :)

Thanks for the guidance. I noticed I also have a disk that came with the laptop that apparently contains drivers. Would this work?

Yes. Install the Dell notebook system software and chipset driver FIRST - BEFORE anything else.

You should not post your customer number -- remove it.
The service tag number is on a sticker on the bottom of the system, in the BIOS setup screen, and on your invoice.

That sounds great. How do I find my service tag? I logged in at dell.com and found the following customer numbers but was unable to find a service tag:

support.dell.com, enter your service tag and choose Original Configuration. It will then list all your hardware.

Thanks for your help. I learned recently while installing an audio driver that there are 3 options for the e1505 but that I was supposed to use sigmatel.
How can I distinguish regarding the other drivers I need? Is there a complete list available of exactly what drivers I will need when options are available? Thanks.
