PXE-E61 & PXE-M0F

Hello,

I had a mother board problem some time ago that was causing my display to have problems.  The problem started after the laptop was scanned at an airport (Believe it or not.).  The motherboard was replaced by a factory technician a few days later.

Here is my problem:  I get the above subject referenced PXE errors on boot-up.

Is there a quick fix for this stuff.  I read and read and there seems to be different solutions depending on the Bios that is installed.   Here are my general Specs:

Inspiron 600m Notebook
XP Professional
Bios Version A09

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PXE should almost definitely be OFF, especially for a laptop (I can't think of any reason you'd want it on a laptop). It's a method for booting a computer from the network.

There should be a field to disable this in the BIOS configuration. Go into the BIOS and look for the option to turn it off. It should be in there somewhere. I think I vaguely remember seeing it on my 500m (which is close to the 600m). Just switch it off - that should fix things. PXE may also be known of boot-on-lan or network-boot or something like that.

Thanks again for the suggestion.  Funny.  I dont have anything that resembles PXE in my BIOS.  However you did mention that it is part of the boot process.

I did disable everything in the boot-up order except the hard drive.

The problem is now gone.  Obviously it was one of the devices that is listed in the boot up.

Thanks again!

mmcclosky,

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.

This message could be your hard drive or something else.

Go into your system BIOS and make sure that “network” comes after harddrive. Or, you could just enter the BIOS and press Alt-F to load the BIOS defaults.

Do you boot to a network?
