Remove BIOS Password Completely

A have a Dell Inspiron 8100 and every time it boots up I have to type in the BIOS password. I went into setup, F2, at boot and tried to remove the password so I would not have to do this everytime I started up. I typed in the password and hit " enter" three times but it keeps telling me the password is invalid. How can the password be valid for me to use the computer and not valid to change or remove it? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Try disabling/removing the Administrators password in the BIOS first. Then do the same for boot up.

It should be the same password.

I'm not sure I know what you mean. Is there another place that a password is stored beyond the Set up, F2, screen?

No it's all there on that page of the BIOS. There is a BOOT/Power On password a HDD password and a Administrators password. The Administrators password is so NO setting can be changed in the BIOS and I think it gets set automatically when you set a BOOT/Power On password is set.

If all that fails to get rid of the BOOT/Power On paswoed then you will need to call Dell tech support for the Master password.

I called Dell and they gave me the master password. It still will not allow me to remove it in the set up screen.

On my i8200 opn page 7 of the BIOS there is

*************System Security***************

Primary Password: (Top of the page)

just below that is

Admin Password:

and then farther down the page is

***********Hard-Disk Drive password(s)*************

Is your BIOS like that?? What version BIOS are you running??? Is there a listing for Admin: Password

My Inspiron 8100 is running Bios version A 15. Under System Security in the Set up screen is System Security: Primary Password: Enabled    Admin. Password: Disabled. UNder that is a heading called Hard Disk. System Primary Password: Disabled.
