Replacing Keyboard

Hi,

is it possible to replace the keyboard of my Inspiron 7500? Where can I get one? My son broke the keyboard.

Thanks for your help,
Thomas Kramer

How is the keyboard broken? If a key has popped out of place, in many cases that key can be replaced. If something was spilled into the keyboard, the system may require service.

Steve:

In this case you may need to contact technical support directly via:

Hi:

I have a similar problem. My Inspiron 8100 notebook is approx 2 years old and about 8 of the keys now have the letters (on the key) partially unreadable. Does Dell have stickers to place on the keys or do I need to purchase 8 new keys or  new keyboard ?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Steve

Also, does anyone know the part number (or how to find out the part number) of the Inspiron 8100 keyboard ?

Thanks,

Steve

Taycos,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You can get pricing and availability information from Dell Software and Peripherals.

They are our parts department and sell components from Dell and other vendors. While Dell does not support non-Dell items outside of the first 30 days of ownership, this site can help guide you more effectively on a peripheral purchase than another retail vendor could.

  1. Choose Small Business as your business segment.
  2. Click on Parts for Your Dell or the icon of the portable hard drive.
  3. Pick your system type and model or enter your service tag for suggested products for your Dell computer.
  4. Click Search.

They also have hard drive, memory and peripheral upgrade options. If you cannot find what you are looking for by the search engine, you can contact them at:

1-800-372-3355, option 5.

Using the URL and search you suggested, doesn't include keyboards. They
list lots of items but not a keyboard for an Inspiron 8100.
Thanks,
Steve
