Restarting Problems
When I restart, the system shuts down, the screen goes blank, the cursor goes to the top left corner. THEN, the cursor goes about two thirds of the way down and just to the right of the center of the screen and remains there...blinking.
It freezes there and does nothing. I have tried the clean boot and it does not affect this at all....
What can I do next?

I'm afraid your message did not provide sufficient information to determine what problem you are experiencing or allow me to suggest a resolution. Could you provide specific details regarding the problem you are experiencing and any events (software or hardware changes) that may have preceded the onset of these problems? Additional information that would be helpful would be the type of system this is occurring on and the Operating System(s) installed on the system. I'm having a similar problem with an Inspiron 2500, which is running XP and has SP2 installed.
This problem was occuring before SP2 was installed and it continues.
When I have to restart the computer, whether it is after installing a new program or update, or just wanting to restart the computer, the system will shut down and log off, the hard drive will stop spinning, but then the screen goes blank and it does not restart again. I have waited as long a two hours for the system to restart itself,but to no avail. I have to hold down the power button until the system powers down. Once I press the power button again, the system starts up normally.
What could be the reason for the system not restarting after going through the normal shutdown mode? Just to show the difference, when the computer is shut down, it goes through normalshut down procedures and powers off after comppleting the shut down process.
Any ideas to rectify thius situation would be greatly appreciated.
