RTC ERROR CODE 232

Question

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

MY COMPUTER (INSPIRON 6400) DOESN'T STATRT... I MADE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND IT GAVE TIMER FUNCTIONALITY FAILURE/ ERROR CODE 1000-0232 ERROR MSG: RTC DID NOT GENERATE PERIODIC TICS... I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE COIN CELL BATTERY AND NOTHING CHANGED...........I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING SOON THANKS

Thanks but I think there is no direct suggestion regarding the problem on that link. I have tried to contact dell support but they did not reply to me probably due to I am not the first owner o f the laptop.   iare there is there any solution suggestions that i am missing (other than contact us ) in that link ???

this is to do apparently with the real time clock/cmos chip, so I can see why you changed the battery. The only other thing I can think of would be a fault with the actual CMOS chip, which may mean the motherboard is bad, but I really don't know much more than this. I wonder if a post in the BIOS forum would elicit more help (but if you do let them know you already posted here). Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
