Runtime error

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so I hope I'm asking in the right place.

I installed a new hard drive in my Studio laptop. I think I installed everything correctly from the disks. But, every time I try to install my HP printer, (disk and download) I get a Runtime error message. It reads as follows:

Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

I've looked up Runtime errors and fond a whole list of them. They all have an error code number. This one has no number. Can anyone tell me what that means and/or what I can do?

Thanks so much,

Gary

Hello,

My laptop is a Studio 1749 with Windows 7. I did install the disks that came with the computer. I think I did it correctly, but not 100% sure.

I have also run the Windows update. I get the Runtime error while loading both from the HP disk and the download.

Hi Gary,

Please provide following details:

1. System Model
2. Operating System
3. Did you install drivers after installing operating system?
4. Did you try downloading and installing latest drivers of printer from internet?

Meanwhile, perform Windows update and ensure that operating system is up to date.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Gary,

Please install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package:

Also, try running setup as an administrator. Right click on setup file and select run as administrator.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded C++ package, did a restart but I still get the same Runtime message. Where do I go to setup as administrator? Sorry for all of the questions. I'm getting into an area of computers that I'm not as knowledgeable of. Thanks again.
