screen display discoloration

I turned on my computer yesterday and noticed some discoloration on the left side of my screen. It is about an inch and a half wide and runs up and down the whole left side from top to bottom. In a black screen the the strip of discoloration appears red and on a white screen it appears blue. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks...

Pry open the panel above the keyboard and inspect the wiring harness from the lcd. Ensure that it is not frayed or worn... Also make sure that the connector to the motherboard is seated well. You might google for video card diags, it is more than likely to be the onboard/motherboard card or the panel. Both are available for a price. If the problem sure seems to stem from your display, what the heck - tear it open and maybe save yourself a few bucks for fixing internal wiring trouble.
