Screen flickers and performance issue

I'm not sure if its 2 different problems or just one, but my screen has been flickering for about 6 months and it has gotten so bad that i just hooked up an external monitor to it. My other problem is that my fan will kick into overdrive and when it does my performance is nonexsistant. Its really bad when i play my online game.
