Screen setting problem - black borders either side

Hi, Somehow my screen resolution has kind of messed up and now I have black borders either side of my desktop. I am using a 1024 by 768 resolution, and my panel fit is "maintain aspect ratio", I have black borders on the left and right hand side, but top and bottom is fine. I read about using FN and F7, but that does nothing for me. Any other suggestions? I was thinking that the horizontal sizing might work but I dont think this can work with laptops. I need help! If you need more info please ask

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, the default resolution is 1024 by 768.

Is this enough information?

How do I find my model number if that is incorrect?

If you're using a wide-screen laptop that is correct.

Please provide the model number of the laptop and the screen's native resolution

Yes for some strange reason I thought that the resolution was 1024!

How do I tell if it is a WXGA screen? Any way to do it looking on the laptop somehow?

Unless you specifically ordered a different resolution screen for which you pay an extra sum you will have received a WXGA LCD screen.

You could always check on your Dell invoice as it should tell you what type of screen you received in your laptop.
