Screen won't turn on but light is on?

I have a Dell Inspiron... Well literally I was on my laptop an hour ago and spilt a little water on the keyboard. I cleaned it off and it was fine. Well then the "a" key stopped working and I thought it was the water but there was barely any that got on the keys. Then another key started acting up so I turned it off. When I clicked the power button again, it asked for my password and I typed it in then the screen just want blank. The light is in but the screen is just black. I've tried the whole unplugging the charger and taking out the battery and holding the power button for 30 seconds but that didnt work. It hasn't beeped, the power light just stays on. If I click the power button the light goes on/off right away. That has never happened before. I really need this laptop screen to turn on for school. Any suggestions?
