I have never heard of security cable,what is its purpose? Are they good?

A security cable is a steel cable with either a keyed or combination lock integrated into it. One end has a device that connects into s special slot on your noteebook. The other end loops around an immobile object and locks. They are not infallible but they work pretty well at stopping someone from just walking by and grabbing your notebook. They are about twenty dollars at any store that sells notebook accessories.
