Security Lock issue

Hi All

Trying this forum as a last resort. Had anybody else had the issue below and if so how did you solve it if you have. ??

Purchased a dell inspiron 13/5368 laptop, it is advertised as having a noble security hole. I have tried to buy a noble lock for it, but noble are saying that dell has manufactured this laptop wrong and no lock will fit. I have tried contacting dell both technical support and dell sales but can't get an answer, if noble are correct and if they are, why dell is selling a product with false advertising. There are no numbers for dell other than the 2 departments i have tried, they don't seem to have a complaints department that you can contact.

Hi BILLYBOB5,

Rather unfortunate that you were probably misguided.

The system is designed with a security slot.

This would be the part you would need - http://dell.to/2fhGhgj

You could purchase the same with the help of our Chat support team - available here - http://dell.to/MTTc4z

There might however be a few more types available. I, would personally suggest that you take the system to a local shop and test the security lock before you purchase it.

If not, the part listed in the above link should work just fine. There is no compatible list made available yet.

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi Thanks, as far as i can see, the one in the link add a security slot by sticking the plate to the laptop, this can't be done, as its a 2 in 1. Also the laptop has a security slot of its own, its just the lock doesn't fit. Talking to noble who make the locks, they says it should be the noble wedge lock that fits, but it won't due to manufacturing issue. I have spoken to both dell technical support and dell sales, each a couple of times, with respect to them they have no clue what i'm on about and were no help.

Hi, Can i check, are you saying noble the company who make the lock, are wrong and it will fit. I have since spoken to your 3rd party upgrade company, that you put customers onto when dell can't help and they to say this laptop will not take any locks as it has been made wrong and dell are aware of this

Please don't keep this answer private. I have this exact same problem and I'm sure that there are others who do too.

There is a work around. Dell are sending out an engineer to alter casing on laptop so the noble wedge lock will fit. Took me a lot of running around to finally get to this point.
