:^/ Dude, without more information than that, no one will be able to help you.  For example, I don't even know which model your laptop is, let alone which of those would be yours.  Then there's the issue of your user name instead of your real name, and so on.

Bear in mind that this forum isn't meant for Dell tech support so much as for users to help each other.  That is, it's better than nothing.

The Service Tag is a unique number for your hardware, and you should have copied it down before sending the laptop in for repair.  It may also be among the papers that came with the hardware when it was new.

My system does not have a tag # and I would not put personal info into a forum

If your system had no service tag number, Dell could not have arranged for repair.  Without it, the system effectively doesn't exist.  If you purchased the system new, the service tag number is on your invoice.  If you purchased it used without a service tag number, you're probably out of luck at this point unless the seller can provide it to you.

Clearly Dell can and has done so by posting here and sending the same info I pasted here elsewhere my system has been located and is on its way back to me.

My system is a Alienware M17 built before service tags were put on them. It is still under warranty but this has not been an easy process. Dell should have thought things through rather than hanging many of us out to dry.

My next concern is why my system is listed as a marketing unit rather than my personal system. I will know on Friday if I am getting back my actual system.
