Go into your BIOS setup program by hitting the F2 key when the system boots up and you see the Dell Splash screen.  Once you are in the setup program, look at the bottom of the page.  It will tell you what the key combination is to reset the BIOS to the default settings.

I went into the bios but couldn't find where to set the default and logout afterwards

pull the power adapter and the battery out of the system, and then hold down on the power button for 1 minute, plug the power back in and then turn the system on. If it has been a resonable amount of time since this happened you can try doing a system restore back to a time before the issue happened, since it was software that caused the problem and not the hardware.

For every Dell system that I know of you can get into BIOS by hitting F2 and then once you're in press Alt F.  You'll hear a beep and the save the settings and exit.  On the next boot you'll see an additional screen that says something like Detecting IDE Devices and then boot up will continue normally.

Hope that helps.

I don't think that worked ( alt+F), it did say it set the internal clock back , I'm not sure if it worked because i had removed those devices and i don't see any scsi devices anymore but before i did so i can't say if it did or not
