We see a lot of this problem on models with built-in mics and Skype. It might be a configuration setting in Skype. A poster left this tip:
1.Open Skype, go to Tools/Options/Audio Settings (or Tools, Options, Sound Devices)
2. Be sure to have the correct audio in device selected.
3. Uncheck the 'Automatically adjust microphone' box and then drag the blue volume button to the highest (or right below) the highest setting then save

Davee,
Did the tip work for you?
My new M6500 has the same problem.
I can get the internal mic array to work with the sound recorder and speech reco, but Skype doesn't seem to recognize it.
I followed the tip of unchecking the automatic adjust and turning the kic up high but no help.
I did notice that when I select the Options on the Skype toolbar and it opens the Audio Settings...that the mic vol level moves for a split second then goes mute.
Any help?
Thanks,
Randy
