I'll try that. Sorry I did get the Office disks, but didn't know about the Dell restore utility. I will be interested to see if it works. What I meant was that I didn't get xpprosp2 operating disks.

Okay this is a workaround fix provided that the program worked without problems when you first got your laptop.

I would also suggest you get in contact with Dell and asked them for the appropriate Microsoft Office CD be shipped to you.

you have to make your own xp cd (provided you have a burner installed of course). do this before you restore!

Awesome. Brilliant. Everything back to square one. Thanks ever so much. The problems started because we had a spare access 97 and installed it. I don't think it mixes too well with office sbe 2003.

 

None of that info you gave me came in the stuff we got from Dell or in my phone call to India where they referred me to a busy number which dealt with software problems. They told me to ring back tomorrow
