[SOLVED] Alienware 17 R2 Touchscreen not working

I've had my Alienware 17 R2 for a few months. I put Windows 10 on it the second I got it and it has been working great up until a few days ago. The touchscreen is no longer responsive and no longer appears in device manager.

I have tested to ensure that the touchscreen is working properly, as it works in Dell Diagnostics and other OSes such as Linux (I have Linux on another partition).

If anyone has an suggestions on how to resolve this issue, feel free to chime in.

For anyone that has this issue, I did a little digging and was able to resolve this. I did a little digging in Device Manager after being unable to find my touchscreen in the list and found a USB controller that had somehow become disabled. Once I re-enabled this controller the touchscreen along with about 10 other devices repopulated in Device Manager and a quick test of the touchscreen and other features showed that the device was working as expected.

The USB Controller that controls all these devices, that had somehow been disabled is:

USB Root Hub (xHCI)

Device type: Universal Serial Bus controllers

Manufacturer: (Standard USB HUBs)

Location: on Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)

Along with the touchscreen reactivation this device listed many other "HID-compliant' devices that were missing while this device was inactive.

As my issue is resolved I welcome an administrator to close the thread however it would be nice if the thread was still accessible to anyone who has a similar issue in the future as I was not able to find any information about my issue or this possible cause.
