Some questions
I have been a Dell user for years and a couple of new questions just came to me recently
Question 1 My fiance is getting a Dell laptop free because she is getting help through an organization for people with visual and physical impairments who need help with getting a job, going to school etc. We got the purchase order for the computer on the 18th of August and still haven't receieved it. What is the general turn around time from the date of order to when a computer is received. Seeing as it's a government agency I do have a small amount of suspect that Dell is at fault but most of my suspicion is going toward the agency I'm betting they didn't cut Dell the check for it yet.
Question 2 we are also looking at getting a family laptop for ourselves and my fiance has been asking if they have a mutli-battery laptop or a way to keep an extra battery charged at all times. I told her that most likely not since I haven't seen any desktop charging accessories for laptops. I know that models like the Inspiron 8500 which I had one would allow you to sacrifice the optical drive by getting a special battery that took the place of the drive. Does anyone know if there is a laptop that has one or both of these options? My fiance is going to e running around the IUP campus quite frequently and needs a laptop with good battery life.

You'll have to call Dell to check on the ETA, if you have the order number.
Most of the Latitude D and E series models have the option of a second battery. Most of the Inspiron, XPS, Vostro and Studio models CANNOT take a second battery.

Unfortunately ejn63 this firm is a government agency and getting them to tell you the truth about anything these days is like pulling teeth. I get monthly disability checks and I keep learning this rule here and that rule there only either through my own experiences or from what friends/relatives have told me. All we get when we contact her counselor and her supervisor is the same candid response "It should be there any day now." Like I said in my original post I'm putting my money on that they haven't sent the funds to Dell. Today I found out that the mobility assistance she needed to get herself comfortable with the college was never done until 3 days before she was scheduled to start. The case was never given to her counselor until 2 weeks before she was scheduled to start.
