Sound

i installed windows 7 on my laptop and the internal speakers do not produce any sound but headphones do. any help?

Any of u knowledgeable people with a solution to the sound problems? Need your help

Sorry for not replying to your initial post. The problem is either configuration, software or hardware.Check for proper configuration in the audio control panel making sure speakers are not muted etc.

The software solution should be to install the Sigmatel HD audio driver for your 1420 using Vista compatibility mode. Download the Vista version R171786 and unpack (unzip) the files but cancel the installation of the driver. This will create a folder for the driver's files on the hard drive. go to that folder

c:\Dell\Drivers\R171786
Right click on setup.exe and select Properties. Find the compatibility tab to select Vista.

If it is a hardware problem that just happened by chance when you installed 7, it is most likely a failed sense pin in the headphone jack. One of the symptoms of that is one of the jacks may be "checked" in the control panel as if in use when nothing is plugged into it..
