Studio 1535 boot from USB not working

I have created a Windows 7 boot installation on a USB stick. On my desktop computer, I have verified that I can boot from the USB stick and the Windows 7 installation begin.

On my Dell Studio 1535, I've set the boot sequence to USB storage device as the first option and have disabled all other. USB is enabled in the bios. When I have the USB stick plugged in and start the computer, I get an error saying that there is no bootable device. When I enable DVD as the 2nd boot device, I can press F12 when the computer is booting to enter the boot menu, but there is no USB device listed. Only the DVD drive is listed. Can you boot from a USB from a Dell Studio 1535? Is the motherboard on it capable of doing that?

There are several ways to create a bootable Win7 USB stick and some of them might not work properly. The easiest way to create a bootable Win7 -USB stick is to use the original Microsoft Win7-USB-Creator.

You may have to create an iso-file first (from your original Dell Win7-CD)

I should have clarified that the bootable USB stick was created using Microsoft's tool and suggested method, as stated in the link you've provided.  Also, I have used the USB stick on another computer and verified that it does work, as I can boot from the USB stick.

Why the Dell Studio 1535 cannot see the USB is my main concern?  Can you boot from a USB from a Dell Studio 1535? Is the motherboard on it capable of doing that?

You are obviously not the only one with that problem:

(reply to these posts and ask if they ever found a way to solve their problem)

I have no experience with your model but I can tell you that my almost 2 year old inspiron boots perfectly from USB.

You might try a BIOS update (don't blame me the system is dead afterwards) or take a different approach to  boot from USB by following tutorials on this webpage:
