Studio xps 1645, adding gps?

I'd like to add a gps module in my laptop for GPS capability and act as an anti-theft mechanism. I have lojack on my laptop as well and they have confirmed that the software is gps compatible. My laptop is a studio xps 1645 specs in sig.. Any good one out there for a low price and that will work with my system?

You're asking a question that's far better asked of the Lojack people - not here.

Have you read what i wrote? ive already asked them and they gave me a list!

Now i want to know which module is compatible with my laptop...

the lojack people do not know the answer to that because they can only tell me which one works with their software..

Gosh, people these days...

There are two full and one half mini card slots in the system - assuming one is open, you should be able to use a mini-PCI GPS card.  That said, since Dell didn't ship any, be sure there are antenna wires for whatever you want to install.  If there aren't, look for an Express Card GPS card that fits in the external card slot.

Yes i have a wwan slot available, and two white wires in the slot area that are not being used.

That would depend on the company you have your broadband data plan with - those are all WWAN cards.  You must have a data contract to use them.  They're not going to give you free access to GPS - you will have a monthly bill to pay for data.

Not based on the list you provided, no - you need a service provider for all of them.

I don't think you'll find any - what you're looking at aren't GPS cards but rather cards that connect to wireless broadband services that provide GPS support.

Ive been looking around and reading alot, ive found out that if i get an unlocked card and just put in a sim card ill be able to use the gps function without a plan. Can anyone confirm this?

This is not correct.  Its like saying you can get an unlocked sim card and make phone calls without a  plan.

The GPS locator is a service that you have to pay for "IN ADDITION" to whatever cellular service you get.

You still need  a network connection - meaning that you can do this, but you'll have to sign up for a pay as you go plan.
