Synaptic drivers mess my scroll mouse
The new synaptic drivers causes my mouse scroll button to reset to 1 every time!!!
This is very irritating. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Faridzadeh,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
If your external mouse requires additional drivers, I would suspect that these drivers are conflicting with those for the touch-pad. You should remove the drivers for both pointing devices and then reinstall those for the mouse that you wish to use.

I get the same behavior with Synaptics 7.5.7 driver (the newest one).
Even without a separate mouse driver/utility installed for your USB mouse, the Synaptics driver will:
1. change the number of lines to scroll to "1" (Control Panel->Mouse->Wheel)
2. disable "Use Smooth Scrolling" in Internet Explorer (Tools->Options->Advanced)
You can change thes settings, but upon restarting Windows, the Synaptics driver automatically changes it back.
Very annoying. Has anyone found a workaround?

absolutely the same problem. Found out the problem is not with the mouse (tried logitech traveller and MX300). Both have same behavior.
I run my mouse w/o any Logitech drivers and face the above problem. If I install the drivers the scroll option does not exist in the mouse menus anymore. Very annoying.
Please share a solution if you have one. I tried fiddling with Registry settings.. didnt help. Next I am gonna try installing the Logitech drivers and then edit the registry. Will post a solution if I find one and expect the same.
Thanks.

this seems like it is a bug w/ the touchpad drivers, and needs to be dealt with. anyone know how we get dell to address this issue?

I do not have IntelliPoint installed. From what I know, they still conflict with each other, as you can only run one set of drivers at a time.
You can try installing one over the other...but I doubt you will have much luck.
