System restore using command prompt failed.
Hi, I tried to use the command prompt under system recovery options to restore my default factory setting. My laptop is Dell Inspiron N4050. I already updated my OS but I want to return it to default. I typed in chkdsk c:/r under command prompt. The process continues but in the end, I got this error which is "Failed to transfer logged message to the event log with status 50." Please help. Thanks

After this instruction which is "To access the recovery options, log in as an administrator and click OK to open the Dell Factory Image Restore menu.", it prompt this message "Windows cannot find a system image on this computer. Attach the backup hard disk or insert the final DVD from a backup set and click Retry. Alternatively, close this dialog for more options." Please help. Thanks

Hello MarkJc,
It seems that the recovery partition got corrupt some how due to which you are getting the error message as "Windows cannot find a system image on this computer". You would require the recovery disks in order to re-install windows. Please let me know if you have the recovery disks. If yes, please Re-install the Operating System Manually.
Hope this helps!

Hi Allan D,
I think my recovery disk is also corrupted. I tried to use that several times but it seems my ROM can not read it anymore. I used some disk to verify if the problem is in my DVD ROM but those disk are working properly. Is there any other way to recover it without a disk? Please help.
Thanks & Regards,
MarkJc

Hello MarkJc,
In that case, if you are in United States, you may request for the Recovery Media here.
