System Shutting down automatically.

Dear All, I having Dell Insipron 1405 640M notebook.(OS- Windows XP) From past one week, my system is shutting down automatically. I 'm getting blue screen with following error message: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer. If this happens again follow these steps: check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a drive is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove/disable components, press F8. Tech Info: Stop:0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF78AFB50, 0xA9F2ABA8, 0x00000000) PCD5SRVC.PKMS Adress F78AFB50 base at F78AD000 date stamp 46A53580. begining dump of memory. Physical memory dump completed. Contact System administrator." Could anyone please tell me what I have to do? Thanks and Regards, Hariprasad Hegde

If each bluescreen you receive has the file "PCD5SRVC.PKMS" listed in it, then it would appear that it is getting caused by "PC Doctor" software or possibly the "Dell Support Center" software. You may want to try uninstalling this software via Safe Mode (F8 key during startup) to see if it resolves your issue.

Thanks,
Tim

That would be unfortunate to have to uninstall the software that you paid for. You could try seeing if it is conflicting with something else that is running on the system or if there is an update available for the software. It can be a pain sometimes to figure out what might be conflicting, but if you feel adventurous you can view/change different startup items by using the msconfig program (Start, Run, msconfig). Good luck! :)

Thanks,
Tim

In XP there is an option to automaticaly restart whenever a fatal error occurs. Unfortunatly this keeps you from finding out the why so it can be fixed. to turn this feature off do the following:
open the control panel; open the system icon; click the "advanced" tab; under "startup and recovery" click "settings"; under "system failure" UNCHECK "automatic restart". Now you can repair the problem just remembet the autorestart tells you THERE IS A PROBLEM.   hope this helps
