Thin Blue Line
My Inspiron 5000 display has a problem which began yesterday, in that it has a thin blue vertical line down the right-hand side of the screen. This is present throughout the boot sequence and in all programs including the blank-screen screen-saver, at which time it is the only thing visible.
The screen width is 28.5 cm. and the line is 22 cm. from the left side of the screen, for the full height of the screen which is 21.5 cm. The line is perfectly straight, vertical, and extremely thin.

If the blue line is present during the boot sequence then it is likely a problem with the LCD itself. You may want to try connecting the system to an external monitor to see if the line is present there. If the line does not show on an external monitor, then the problem is the LCD or a component within it.

"Try reseating the video flex harness (remove all power!). It is under the plastic bezel above the keyboard."
This did the trick for me, when i saw that line just 3 weeks after the warranty went up i was SO FREAKED out. Now its GONE! Thanks
